Seventeen-year-old Alyssa Currence was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease, a form of cancer that attacks the lymphatic system, on the first day of her senior year at Broadway High School, Aug. 25, 2005.
Alyssa endured six months of chemotherapy, 12 treatments, at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital Cancer Center.
With the support of her parents, Mark, 45, and Carolyn, 46, her sisters, Gina, 22, and Andrea, 15, and her friends, Alyssa stayed in school during this exhausting treatment and managed to maintain high grades.
