“I’ve read about Jackson and his army walking … and I’ve wonder, ‘What’s that like?’” said White, 43. “You read it in the history books and then you walk it and you go, ‘OK, I got it.’ … You get a feeling for what it felt like.”
Once In A Lifetime Experiences
So far, White has completed more than half of the walk that stretches the length of the Valley twice, passing over mountains, down bustling highways and through tiny towns.
He has averaged about 10 miles a day and has followed Jackson’s orders to stop 10 minutes every hour and an hour every day for lunch.
While the trek has been long and he’s worn sores on his feet, White says he has met many kind-hearted people and gotten to see many things that he wouldn’t have known existed if he had not taken the walk.
